Kochi Organic Market Vendor Association Establishment Statement

  1. We would like to create a place where organic farmers in Kochi Prefecture can sell their produce directly to consumers who are looking for fresh and safe ingredients.
Selling things you've made yourself is a lot of fun, and it also provides a place for like-minded people to gather and interact, which can hopefully increase your motivation to produce.
We would like to exchange seeds and also link this to a movement to protect native species.
By having producers and buyers "learn while selling and learn while buying" here, I believe it will become a place where they can think about their own lives and society from an organic perspective, and in other words, foster an organic culture.

  2. Currently, there is no Saturday market in Kochi City.
However, given the lifestyles of today's consumers, it seems that fresh, high-quality ingredients are needed on Saturdays.
We hope to create a "new Saturday market" for the younger generation who are concerned with simple and healthy lifestyles, by including areas for food education and promoting brown rice.

  3. There is a growing trend of people moving from cities to the countryside in search of richer nature. At this time, the appeal of Kochi, where a weekly market selling fresh organic produce and safe processed foods is sure to grow.
This will also guarantee small-scale sales channels for people who want to return to farming after retirement, or move to or return to their hometown to take up farming, which I believe will also help promote farming in Kochi, and above all, I believe it will be a major force in revitalizing the region.
If this organic market, which is rare even in Japan, is successful, it may even influence the direction Kochi Prefecture is heading in, so we would like to run it with a sense of mission and pride.

With these three aims in mind, we will be holding a new market called "Kochi Organic Market" every Saturday, which will only sell organic produce, additive-free processed foods, and handmade crafts.
We hope that this market will not just be an event, but will become established as a "living market" for Kochi consumers and be loved for a long time to come.

The exhibitors will be responsible for running the event independently.
